What is a trunk or treat?
Trunk or Treat promotes a fun, safe environment for children and families to trick or treat. Kids should dress up in costume and walk from trunk to trunk in the FWES upper parking lot. Parents, you provide the trunks and the treats for our trick or treaters by parking in the lot and handing out treats from your car trunk! Treats can include commercially packaged candy or other non-food items such as pencils, erasers, stickers, tattoos, small toys, or glow sticks.
The PTA DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) committee will host a trunk in celebration of Día de Los Muertos, and provide a small craft to take home. Whereas Halloween is about fun costumes and candy, Day of the Dead is a multi-day holiday celebrated in Mexico and elsewhere on November 1st and 2nd to remember friends and family who have died.
When is the event?
Thursday, October 28th. 6pm - 7:30pm. Park in the “lower” bus lot. Everyone will walk through the “upper” lot, making one loop through the parking lot in the same flow as carpool. Costumes encouraged for the whole family! Please don’t forget a bag to collect your treats.
We are coming! How do I RSVP?
Please RSVP for any children that will attend so that we can be prepared.
How can I help?
We need donations of treats and great volunteers to help make our event a success. If you can help, please SIGN UP HERE!
I would like to decorate my trunk, how do I make that happen?
We need decorated trunks to make this event successful! Please SIGN UP HERE! Those wanting to decorate a trunk must sign up in advance and be prepared to stay for the entire event (5:30pm - 7:30pm). PTA will provide treats to be distributed, as well as food safety gloves. Bring your own bowl, table, or candy chute. Fun and decorations encouraged!
If I decorate my trunk, may I arrive early to decorate?
Yes, you may arrive at 5:30 to set up - please be ready to distribute candy by 6pm sharp.
What if we cannot participate in handing out treats from our car?
No problem! Your child may still participate in trick or treating. Costumes are encouraged for the whole family!
Can we access the rest of the school campus?
The playground is available, although it will get dark during the event. The school building will be closed, so there is no access to bathrooms. Please plan accordingly.
