Farmington Woods Elementary School PTA
CURRENT NEWS
Join the PTA
Our voices are stronger together! Farmington Woods relies on our strong family community to volunteer time and to provide funding for programs, classroom supplies and technology. By joining forces with other NC PTO/PTAs and the national PTA organization, we amplify our ability to raise awareness for issues like teacher pay, classroom mandates, and other laws that impact our students.

PTA Volunteers Needed!
Apart from the positions listed below we also need people with great big ideas and huge hearts! Our PTA is 100% volunteer run and everything we raise goes back to the Farmington Woods community. If you have an idea for a program, fundraiser, or service that reaches out to our students, staff or teachers, please contact us!
Volunteers are needed for the following areas this school year:
Cultural Arts Chair: Work with FWES to bring unique artists to share their talents and cultures with our students. Help secure contracts and support the artists on the day of the performance. Commitment: August/September and as Performances are Scheduled
Family Engagement Chair: Plan and staff family engagement events at FWES. Oversee events open to all FWES families and staff such as Pajama Jam, Welcome Back Picnic, movie nights, and World Dance. Must love organization, working with people, and having fun. Responsible for contracting approved food trucks, renting equipment, and planning appropriate craft projects and activities. Commitment: Yearlong
PTA Helping Hands: !!!NEW THIS YEAR!!! Do you want to help out, but can’t commit to a specific time? The PTA would like to build a large pool of willing volunteers that we can contact when the need arises. For example, we might need help stuffing envelopes, printing flyers, volunteering for an hour at the book fair or picture day. This is a great opportunity to get to know the PTA and see everything we do for FWES without committing to a yearlong position. Let us know you are interested and we will keep your contact information handy in case the need arises. Commitment: As needed
Fine Arts/Reflections Chair: The Fine Arts Chair oversees two main programs at our school: The National PTA Reflections Arts Contest, and the spring art fundraiser, Art to Remember. Help submit FWES students’ original artwork for the PTA Reflections Contest held each fall and assist Mrs. Smith with her Art to Remember Fundraiser. Help Mrs. Smith submit orders and count money. Commitment: A few weeks in the Fall and Spring

These books should align with the IB Attributes and curriculum for that month. Create schedules for parents and help train room parents on how Hook-a-Book works. Commitment: Yearlong
Mini Grants: The mini-grants chairperson is responsible for the distribution of mini-grant applications to FWES staff. The chairperson will then collect the forms, review the requests, and prepare a table of requests to present to the Board of Directors for review and voting. The chairperson will then inform the applicants whether their request has been approved or denied, and provide instructions on how to collect their funds. Commitment: A few weeks during the year
Nominating Committee Chair: Creates and Oversees a nominating committee, in accordance with the uniform bylaws, to identify/grow leaders for the PTA. Prepares a slate of candidates for elected officers and board appointments and presents this slate to the Board of Directors no later than mid-April. Project Parents: This chairperson oversees the activities of the Project Parents, a group that helps with larger tasks around the school. The Assistant Principal will communicate needs to the chairperson (assembling furniture, installing pencil sharpeners, etc.) and they will arrange for volunteers to help with the task. Grants: This chairperson oversees the grant writing and application process as opportunities arise. Commitment: Yearlong as Needed
