Fundraising

None of what we do is possible without fundraising and your generosity. We hold two major fundraisers at the beginning of the year to let the PTA effectively help our kids, teachers, and the school.

GoPlaySave

The GoPlaySave coupon and mobile book sale is our first of two main fundraisers, and it runs the first month of school. The coupon book (both paper and mobile version) is filled with over $10,000 in discounts for services, restaurants, and entertainment venues throughout the Triangle. The PTA receives $15 for each $30 book, earning over $5,000 each year for our school. These funds supplement the money raised in the Fun Run and help pay for PTA programs, events, and services.  LEARN MORE HERE!

Annual FunRun

The Fun Run is the second and biggest fundraiser of the year and it is held over a 2-week period in the Fall. The PTA works with the Apex Leadership Co to not only raise money through pledges, but also teach leadership and fitness traits through daily lessons leading up to the run. Funds raised contribute to all our PTA-sponsored programming, support and services including cultural arts, technology, playground repairs/upgrades, community garden maintenance and teacher mini-grants.

World Dance

This annual FWES tradition is a celebration of our school’s diversity and cultural heritages during an evening of global music and dances, international games, and more. Families are encouraged to wear cultural dress and join in sharing their cultural traditions with others. LEARN MORE HERE!

Trunk or Treat

Enjoy a fun evening in October Trunk or Treating in your costumes with your FWES friends and families. Trunk or Treat promotes a fun, safe environment for children and families to trick or treat. Kids and adults dress up in their favorite costumes, and students collect treats as they visit trunks of vehicles creatively decorated by parent and staff volunteers. LEARN MORE HERE!

Reflections Arts Contest

The National PTA Reflections Program is an arts recognition and achievement program for PreK-12th grade students. It offers students an opportunity to express themselves creatively in six different art categories and to receive positive recognition for original works of art inspired by a pre-selected theme. The 2023–2024 Reflections Contest theme is “I AM HOPEFUL BECAUSE…” Students are invited to reflect on this theme and create work(s) of art in one or more of the available categories: Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, and/or Visual Arts.  LEARN MORE HERE!

Cultural Arts

The PTA arranges cultural arts programming, including performances or residencies, that take place during the school day and feature a variety of professional artists and performers to enrich students’ experiences in the arts. The Artists in Schools Program is a partnership between United Arts Council of Raleigh and Wake County, the Wake County Public School System, and local schools.

Family Academy Nights

FWES PTA partners with WCPSS Family Academy to bring workshops to our school community about relevant topics of discussion. Childcare is provided during workshops whose target audience is mainly adults. The workshops are conducted in both English and Spanish.
