An FWES institution since 2016, World Dance is a celebration of our school’s diversity and cultural heritages during an evening of global music and dances, international games, and more. Families are encouraged to wear cultural dress and join in sharing their cultural traditions with others.
A fun tradition since 2021, PTA coordinates a fun evening in October in your costumes with your FWES friends and families. Trunk or Treat promotes a fun, safe environment for children and families to trick or treat. Kids and adults dress up in their favorite costumes, and students collect treats as they visit trunks of vehicles creatively decorated by parent and staff volunteers.
The National PTA Reflections Program is an arts recognition and achievement program for PreK-12th grade students. It offers students an opportunity to express themselves creatively in six different art categories and to receive positive recognition for original works of art inspired by a pre-selected theme. The 2025–2026 Reflections Contest theme is “I Belong!" Students are invited to reflect on this theme and create work(s) of art in one or more of the available categories: Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, and/or Visual Arts.
The PTA funds cultural arts programming, including performances or residencies, that take place during the school day and feature a variety of professional artists and performers to enrich students’ experiences in the arts. The Artists in Schools Program is a partnership between United Arts Council of Raleigh and Wake County, the Wake County Public School System, and local schools.
Started in 2024, PTA works with FWES student council, staff, and community partners to sponsor a fun family event for our whole school community featuring fun and engaging STEAM themed activities. We celebrate Science Technology Engineering Art and Math to encourage kids to explore their interests in these fields. We welcome students and their families to join a night of hands-on learning, connecting, and community building.
Every year, a Yearbook is created entirely by dedicated PTA volunteers who generously give their time and creativity to capture the heart of each school year. Their hard work preserves priceless memories of your child's school experiences. Buy early in the year for the best price. You can contribute photos and fifth grade families are invited to create personal recognition ads to celebrate the milestone.
FWES PTA partners with WCPSS Family Academy to bring workshops to our school community about relevant topics of discussion. Childcare is provided during workshops whose target audience is mainly adults. The workshops are conducted in both English and Spanish.
