Who?

FWES PTA works with Apex Leadership Company, a locally owned company that provides a two-week interactive program that encourages development of leadership habits and good character, combined with a fitness-focused event fundraiser that helps schools raise much needed funds.

What?

This is our biggest fundraiser of the year, held over a two-week period in the fall.   Each school day, students receive lessons on leadership traits (such as gratitude, kindness, respect) as well as have fun challenges - some based on pledges, but many that are participation based.  The Global Fun Run is a high-energy, celebratory fitness event held at the end of the two-week program. Students get to have a ton of fun and be challenged to complete laps to music.  Every student receives bracelets and a shirt to keep.

When?

In 2025, the fundraiser will kick off on Monday October 6.  The Global Fun Run will be on Thursday October 16 (rain date Friday October 17).  Expected times are as follows (subject to change):

  9:35 am - 10:25 am: Pre-K, Kindergarten, and 1st grade

 10:30 am - 11:20 am: 2nd and 3rd grade

11:25 am - 12:15 pm:     4th and 5th grade 

Where?

The run will be on the back track.  Please park and walk around towards the field.  A table with volunteers will be stationed there to check in visitors to campus.  

Why?

Our goal is to provide our students with the best education and school experience possible and ensure they have the tools they need to learn and grow. Funds raised contribute to all our PTA-sponsored programming and services. This one fundraiser brings in 75% of money used for everything that we do to make FWES great for all students!  This includes cultural arts performances, family events, educational supplies, teacher grants, staff appreciation, technology, and so much more!

Last year, your generosity and support allowed FWES PTA to revitalize our cafeteria into a more "IB Minded" space.  New tables help create a more community-based atmosphere and brighten up the whole room!  We have previously updated furniture in the Inquiry Center, finished the outdoor amphitheater construction, installed water bottle refill stations, purchased blue metal picnic tables, and removed the outdated Promethean boards from all classrooms.

How?

Can you help?  All volunteers must be approved volunteers through WCPSS (https://www.wcpss.net/volunteer).  We need volunteers to help mark laps, take pictures, help at the water station, and more!  Sign up will be provided closer to the event.

Can you come watch?  We would love to have a crowd cheering on our students on this exciting day.  A child completing all 42 laps runs approximately 2.5 miles!  Every lap is an accomplishment to celebrate!

Can you donate?  You can help support our fundraising efforts by making a donation online at www.myapexevent.com using your student’s unique access code to log in. Then share a link to family and friends and invite them to enter their own pledges online.
